Today we finished our research and put it in to a google doc with our Works Cited page from Easybib. this assignment was to work with the four sources you found in the data bases and find two pieces of evidence for each source. The Easybib practice is a skill we need to know for the future. If we can export our citations for the end page of our essay we can save a lot of time.

Today was a research day! We began to look in our sources for the best evidence to support one of our subclaims and our opinions associated with those sub claims. Each source should have yielded at least two pieces of evidence to use as support for our claims. We covered analysis and how to explain the significance and implications of the source material as part of our analysis.

Continue setting the stage for the Investigative Report Unit. Students watched a clip of an investigative report called "Merchants of Cool" based on an article written for The New Yorker magazine by Malcolm Gladwell, who they met in the debate unit. then we covered some of the stylistic elements of investigative writing and took Cornell notes on a PowerPoint so they have these to refer to as they write. Finally, students read and analyzed two short texts for qualities of investigative reports and recorded their findings on a text analysis notecatcher. if you missed this day, please see me for these articles and the notecatcher.
